Really welcoming house, you are made to feel very at home. Games are provided in the cosy living room, perfect for a relaxing evening in. The location is perfect with a lovely view overlooking the harbour and minutes away from the famous fish and chip shop La Mirage. The owners are incredibly friendly and make a killer kipper breakfast.
I really recommend the kipper breakfast! :-]
Helmsdale is a picturesque harbour village constructed by the Duke of Sutherland during the late 1800’s, the start of the fishing industry. It was a working fishing harbour up until the 21st century when the decline of the fish stocks required a change in harbour use.
Today it is a pleasant marina catering for small inshore lobster and creel boats, pleasure cruisers and yachts.
Selkie house sits on the Harbour Front and is an easy 10 minute walk to the various restaurants and services in the village, or enjoy a glass of wine and watch the boats coming and going from the front door.
Pan for gold in the Kildonan burn, equipment and instructions from Lethrcraft on the harbour front beside the car park. Lobsters and crabs often available to buy from the boats.
